Pima Imam

the STEPs

Pima Imam is the current Chief Executive Officer of the STEPS.org and a Founding member of the University for Social Transformation through Education (USTE).

Ms. Imam has over three decades of experience in social development, including national skill development through vocational training, promoting women empowerment and bringing hundreds of rural women under the financial inclusion net.

From 2000 to 2017, Ms. Imam worked as an educator of underprivileged communities in United Kingdom. Her career in education has been focused on empowering immigrant communities, ethnic minorities and refugees in the UK through education and cultural training and thereby helping them to achieve social integration and reach their maximum potential in income generating careers. She spent seventeen years as an instructor and Head of School at South and City College, Birmingham, one of the largest Further Education colleges in the UK responsible for developing literacy, numeracy and employability skills in areas of multiple deprivation including Handsworth, Lozells, Nechells and Small Heath. Enriched by this experience, Ms Pima conceptualized the University for Social Transformation through Education (USTE), a STEPs project in Bangladesh.
